Martinez himself described the first half of this fashion model freakfest of a film as "a melodrama like Valley of the Dolls, and the second half is like The Texas Chain Saw Massacre," and for that mindbending blend he composed a hypnotic, electronic masterpiece in the grand tradition of such European masters as Goblin, Vangelis, and Tangerine Dream. That's not all that Real Gone Music's special, 2LP edition offers, however: here, for the first time on vinyl, is the LONG version of Julian Winding's "Demon Dance," along with tracks by Sweet Tempest and Sia ("Waving Goodbye"). Add to that a gatefold jacket, two full-color inner sleeves, and a pink with blue and purple splatter pressing, and you'll find that playing the soundtrack to The Neon Demon is, in its own way, every bit the kaleidoscopic experience that watching it is.
