Graham Jonson has a keen appreciation for the allure of melody and noise. He explores how these elements intertwine in tension, both tonally and atonally, evoking memories and emotions. This essence breathes life into the vibrant world of quickly, quickly, his psych-pop project that originates from Kenton Sound, his basement studio in Portland, Oregon. Pitchforks Philip Sherburne observed, "Wherever you look, theres yet another curiosity to admire," during his visit to Jonsons recording space for a Rising feature shortly after the release of Jonsons strikingly original 2021 debut LP, The Long and Short of It. Since then, Jonson has established a live band, dropped his Easy Listening EP in 2023, and dealt with the ups and downs of being a young musician, balancing the challenges of touring and relationships. His much-anticipated full-length follow-up reflects this journey, showcasing music that feels universal, open-ended, and fulfilling, capturing the essence of great songwriting. While initially intending to create a folk album, he found himself infusing it with noise, resulting in a blend of rich instrumentation and unexpected sounds.
