The Talking Heads gave rise to a number of side projects, but none was as amusing and rousing as Chris Frantz and Tina Weymouth's "Tom Tom Club". Their debut was recorded in 1982 after exhausting album sessions for "Remain in Light" in Barbados with Adrian Belew and Steve Stanley of the band Remain in Light. Although at first the recordings were made just for fun, "Tom Tom Club" became very influential through its mixture of alternative and hip hop and includes the hit singles "Wordy Rappinghood" and "Genius of Love".
