Soup is the second studio album by Blind Melon, released just eight weeks before vocalist Shannon Hoons tragic passing due to a drug overdose. It turned out to be a powerful and emotionally engaging record, standing strong and even more rewarding than their debut album.

Songs like 2 X 4 reflect Hoons time in a drug detox, while Galaxie shares stories about his beloved 1964 Ford Galaxie car. Skinned offers a chilling glimpse into the mind of serial killer Ed Gein. The albums producer, Andy Wallace, even makes an appearance on the cover, casually sipping soup. In 2005, Soup was recognized as the 357th greatest rock and metal album of all time by Rock Hard magazines list of The 500 Greatest Rock and Metal Albums of All Time.
