When The Coral first appeared in 2001 with Shadows Fall, the British press applauded them as the answer to The Strokes. NME declared The Coral the top new band in England. Their fiery originality reverberated, culminating in their 2002 self-titled debut. Praise and nautical mentions gushed in; they even earned a Mercury Music Prize nod a day after the album dropped.
