This unmissable two-disc bundle showcases Frank Zappas legendary concert at The Ritz, in New York, on 17 November 1981.
By the closing months of 1981, Frank Zappa had already released five albums during that productive year. Between late September and early December, Zappa hit the road performing a largely domestic tour that criss-crossed the United States and took in a couple of shows in Canada. On board for the tour were Franks latest touring band, comprising Chad Wackerman on drums, Ed Mann on percussion, Tommy Mars on keyboards, Scott Thunes on bass, with Steve Vai and Ray White on guitar.
In November the group travelled to New York State, played a couple of shows up north before hitting the city and unloading at the infamous Ritz in the East Village on 17 November. The spectacular show that night saw the band play for more than two and a half hours, with special guests Al Di Meola and Brian Peters joining on a couple of numbers.
Featured across two discs, are selected highlights from the performance, including Zappa classics such as Treacherous Cretins, Stevies Spanking, Cocaine Decisions, Tryin to Grow a Chin, Zoot Allures, Watermelon in Easter Hay and more.
