When Lou Reed released his album "Berlin" in 1973, critics and audiences alike were horrified. The contrast between the darkly depressive songs and the previous album "Transformer" with its light-hearted, laconic hit single "Walk on the Wild Side" was too stark. The album became a gigantic flop! Today it is considered a masterpiece and one of the best Lou Reed works ever.
