With their famously tight playing thus sharpened to a razors edge from touring, the band entered the studio for the long-awaited follow up to their beloved comeback record bigger and more intentional than ever, and armed with lyrics balancing grit and uplift, weight and light.
The band pushed each other creatively. Recording felt less like experimentation and more like execution. Every part had to earn its place. The songs were written to hit hard live - that energy guided everything. We trust the groove, remarks Jesse. Thats always been our compass.
Sonically, Super Atomic leans into high-energy grooves while still leaving space for melody and hooks. The band approached this record with more clarity and confidence than ever before.
Lead single Till the Wheels Fall Off is a perfect example. [The song] is about commitment - to the grind, to the music, to the vision. Its all gas, no brakes, says Jesse, adding, That song captures our live energy better than anything weve done. Its a ride-or-die anthem. Keep going, no matter what.
Meanwhile, Jesse says that Musical Muse is a love letter unknowingly becoming a song dedicated to the one thing that keeps you creating. It felt like the words were being given to me. Thats why it says, You write for me the sweetest song. That line is literal.
