The Stooges' 1969 debut remains one of the key fault-line records in rock history: primitive, abrasive, hypnotic and years ahead of the scene it would later be used to define. With "I Wanna Be Your Dog", "No Fun" and "1969", the album introduced a stripped, confrontational sound that cut against the prevailing mood of its era and laid down much of the attitude and tension that punk would later build on. Produced by John Cale at The Hit Factory, The Stooges channels Detroit grit into something minimal but highly charged, with Iggy Pop, Dave Alexander, Ron Asheton and Scott Asheton turning repetition, distortion and brute rhythmic force into a new kind of rock language. Tracks such as "Ann", "Real Cool Time" and the extended "We Will Fall" show the record was never just blunt-force impact; there is mood, space and unease running through it as well. This edition is issued to mark Elektra 75 as a strictly limited run of 2,500 numbered copies. Housed in a mini-LP-style gatefold package with metallic hype sticker & factory sealed.
