Dave Simonett is the lead singer and main songwriter of both. In this project, each band has tackled the same set of Daves five original songs in their own sound, with the intention of exploring the relationship between a song and the people who bring it to life. In Trampled By Turtles' Always Here, the songs soar with the might of the six-piece string band behind them, while Dead Man Winter's Always Now sees the group take a more intimate approach to the tracks featuring drums + organ in the mix. Ive always thought of the song as its own thing, Dave Simonett says. And then the people that play the music, depending on who you have with you or what instruments you happen to have lying around it can change so much.
